Functional Framework

The InterAACT framework serves as the V’s core content, and provides pages that are based on a communicator’s age, communication ability and the context of the interaction. The V accelerates communication through techniques like concept-based phrase prediction, “slots” and “quickfires.” Phrase prediction assigns collections of phrases to concepts, making them easily accessible. “Slots” provide easy access to related words that can be used to complete a message. “Quickfires” are short conversation interjections that are available on the user’s main page for use in any situation. And visual scenes enable users to communicate in the context of a specific image.

AT&T Natural Voices are just that – natural-sounding and easy to understand. The Acapela HQ child voices provide an enhanced level of clarity and natural speech output for youthful users of AAC. With larger, forward-firing speakers and increased audio output, the V is unmatched in audio clarity, voice projection and intelligibility, even in high-noise environments like restaurants, parks and shopping centers.

Communicate with the World Around You.

Communicate like never before – around the block or around the globe – using email and text messaging. Each device includes a free email account that enables communicators using any access method to send a message using a single button. You can also run any Microsoft XP-compatible software application, and access the Web using the device. Using AccessIT, you can operate an external computer, and our dual infrared ports allow you to operate programmable remote control devices from any angle. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities are also available options.

Creative Customization.

Customize your device in no time with the Setup Wizard. It establishes a starting point based on your responses to a few simple questions, and then loads the recommended sets of pages, symbols and voices based on these selections. Multiple user profiles can be stored on a single device in situations when a device is shared among different users. The new Boardmaker® Bridge allows Mayer-Johnson Boardmaker® users to directly import pages they’ve created into the V. Each V and Vmax device includes the latest version of Boardmaker with Speaking Dynamically Pro. Content from the Series 4 and 3100 devices can also be easily imported into your V.

Communicate in Many Languages.

The DynaVox Series 5 Software on the V and Vmax is available in five bilingual options: English/Spanish; English/French;English/German; English/Dutch; and English/Norwegian.A different home page setting is maintained for each language so that you can speak in the languages of your choice with ease. Different languages and voices can even exist on the same page. The Select Language option can be used to change the language of the Series 5 software menus and prompts within seconds. Over 3,600 of the InterAACT pages are translated, as are the on-device How-To Help and Training Modules.

The V offers the widest variety of access methods in the AAC industry. Each of these unique selection methods can be customized to suit the specific needs and goals of an individual. All of the system tools, as well as ways to modify and create pages, are available to users of any input method. Each V device is shipped with a 1 GB USB flash drive that enables users to easily copy files between the V and another computer or device. Users will also receive a USB mouse and USB keyboard (with USB hub), that can connect to the V for additional access.

The V is compatible with a variety of USB storage devices (including USB flash drives and zip drives), CompactFlash data cards and USB-compatible external DVD (DVD R+/-W) or CD drives (CDR/W). These accessories can be purchased at most computer electronics retail stores. The V is also compatible with USB and Compact Flash wi-fi and Bluetooth adapters.

NOTE: Only the Standard (Open) V device can be used to burn CDs.

DynaCare Extended Service Contracts

DynaCare extended service contracts extends the original, all-inclusive 1 year guarantee on the DynaVox Vmax or DynaVox V for up to four (4) years beyond the expiration date of the original DynaCare Certified Unlimited Guarantee. DynaCare Certified Unlimited Guarantee extended service contracts are available for purchase year-by-year or in multi-year packages.

Available Add-Ons and Accessories

AccessIT

Augmented communicators using the Vmax or V devices can wirelessly access Windows®-based computers with the AccessIT. Powered by the computer’s USB port instead of a separate power supply, the AccessIT provides an easy, streamlined alternative computer access method for individuals challenged by significant communication and physical disabilities.

PhoneIT

PhoneIT affords augmented communicators the opportunity to hold private telephone conversations using a standard telephone landline in conjunction with their Vmax or V device. Augmented communicators can use PhoneIT to “pick up” and “hang up” the receiver, and dial phone numbers. Setup is simple and straightforward, and the CD included with your purchase includes PhoneIT page sets for both the Vmax and V, as well as for other DynaVox Technologies devices.

CDR/W drive for the device

This is a USB CDR/W drive with a North American power cord. It can be used to install software on a device. Dedicated devices can not write to a CD in this drive, only read.

The following items would normally require a CD to install the drivers on the device. For the parts that DynaVox sells, the appropriate files are already loaded on the device. This allows use of these items with both the Standard and Dedicated devices. It also allows Standard device users to use these items without requiring a CDR/W drive for installation.

• CompactFlash card for 802.11 Wi-Fi wireless connectivity.
• Wi-Fi wireless connectivity allows the user to access online information and services wherever an accessible wireless network is available.

A Bluetooth adapter allows the device to communicate with other Bluetooth items.

USB 2.0 56K Faxmodem

The Faxmodem is powered via the USB port on the device and thus uses no external power supply. This ends the section that have the drivers pre-installed.

Tracker Pro Head Tracker

The Tracker Pro is the fourth generation in the head pointing device family from Madentec. It operates from the USB port of the DynaVox device and provides people with significant physical disabilities the ability to control their device quickly and easily.

HeadMouse® Extreme for DynaVox V and Vmax

HeadMouse Extreme by Origin Instruments Corporation allows individuals challenged by significant physical disabilities to access their device quickly and easily. HeadMouse Extreme connects to and is powered by the Vmax or V through the USB port.

SCATIR Switch

The Self-Calibrating Auditory Tone Infrared (SCATIR) Switch is designed for use by persons who experience difficulty in activating mechanical switches. It is a momentary-contact optical switch with auditory feedback. It can be activated at a distance so the controlling body part does not need to be in physical contact with the switch sensor.

Keyguards for both V and Vmax devices

Designed to make communicating more efficient for those with limited fine motor skills, our keyguards are available in a variety of layouts –which match the layouts of the InterAACT page sets and templates that are included with the Series 5 software.

Carrying Cases

Protective Carrying Cases
Padded and water-resistant, these cases make it easy to safely transport the Vmax or V and its power supply. A shoulder strap and handle are included with these heavy-duty cases.

User Accessible Carrying Cases
These padded, water-resistant cases protect the Vmax and V while allowing the augmented communicator to use the device without removing it from the case. The device can also be mounted while in the case.

Battery and Power Accessories

Additional Internal Battery and Charger Kit
This kit includes a field replaceable internal battery for a V or Vmax device as well as the charger to charge the battery when not installed in the device.

12V Power Supply Car Adapter Accessory
This Power Supply has a 12V cigarette lighter adapter that can plug into any 12V source. The other end will plug into the charger port on the actual device.

External Battery

An Electrovaya external battery is a flat battery that plugs into the charger port on the device and provides approximately 6 hours of additional runtime for the device. The dimensions of the battery are 10.6” X 8.2” X 0.6” (27 cm X 21 cm X 1.7 cm). It also has two USB charger ports, each of which can power a USB device. The external battery is charged with the same power supply (charger) that charges the V and Vmax devices. This power supply and power cord are included with the shipment of this battery.
